The Bugatti Veyron Super Sport set a new Guiness Book World Record for the fastest land speed production car with two passes that averaged close to 268mph.  The new world record surpasses the old record set by the SSC Ultimate Aero with a speed of 254mph in 2008.  The new Veyron came to the table with 1,200hp.  The added 200hp over the 253mph Veyron allowed the Veyron Super Sport to best the old record by nearly 14mph.
