Nissan 350z: Autobahn Assault

E-mail Print PDF
Building a twin-charged, Nissan Z-car takes vision, planning, a healthy pocketbook, and healthy dose of both time and talent. Plus, it doesn’t hurt if you are stationed in Germany near one of the greatest test tracks known to man—the Autobahn.

All of this was factored into Aaron Eddington’s original build plan…But as we all know, life can often throw a few unexpected curves at us. For Aaron, one of those curves came in the form of deployment papers for a tour in Afghanistan with his military unit. For many sports car enthusiasts, a hurdle like this would mean the end of the dream. However, for a hardcore tuner like Aaron, the change of scenery was simply another challenge to be overcome…even if it meant that parts procurement and installation would be slightly more difficult.

During his tour in the dessert the Stillen Super Charger, RC 400cc injectors, Garrett BB Turbo, and other assorted performance parts were never far from his mind. As soon as the Afghan desert was behind him, Aaron and his buddies tackled the challenge of completing the transformation of his stock 2004 350z into a race-ready machine and tweaking more than 350 hp out of the car’s 3.5 L V6.

THMotorsports Feature Car| V8 Mazda Miata
Power to weight ratio has always been a promising factor in high performance race cars.  "Mazda Miata, meet V8, V8, this is Miata."  Power to weight ratio check, "ALL GOOD!" The question of "what's the most power I can put in a car and what's the most weight I can shave off" is asked by every tuner out there. One man has accomplished this in a big way and I am proud to present to you Johnny Cichowski! He took the idea of putting the power of a space shuttle(V8) into a lawn mower(Mazda Miata)! A little over exaggerated but long story short his "Monster" is just that.  Miatas are pure bred, fun, small, sporty cars. They have amazing handling abilities and are super fun to drive. Lightweight and very nimble is what makes these cars so great. Upgrading suspension for better handling is no issue here but, the issue is making power. It's small engine can take mods and build a little more but Johnny took a look at that in a different angle. Why not put a V-8 in it?  Through lots of time, patience, and love, he has accomplished something many would not think is possible; a pure bred, steroid injected, sports car. Here's what he has to say about it.

Infiniti G35: Rapper's Delite

Feature Car: Infiniti G35 / Rappers Delite
There's always something to be said about form vs. function in the car performance industry.  There's definately a trend moving to balance both while keeping things looking clean.  I'd like to think that the days of crazy looking painted dashboard's and stick on fender air vents are gone.  No need to worry when it comes to Chad Rapper's 2004 Infiniti G35.  Chad has managed to merge form and function into his Infiniti G35, making it one clean Infiniti G35 and landing it as one of our Feature Cars.

Nissan 350Z: 560Z To Be

Nissan 350Z | 560Z
Bradley's 350Z first caught our attention with it's clean lines and plush interior, but things seem to be on the up for Bradley, literally.  He's in the process up uping his cylinder count from 6 to 8.  Yes, Bradley's 350Z will soon be a 560Z after he plants the Nissan 5.6L V8 Titan  engine in it's new home.  Just like Michael Jackson's "Thriller", we hope to see this beast transform before our very eyes!

Bradley then plans to force his will upon the drifting community.  That will be fun to see!

We sat down with Bradley and learned a little about what makes him and his car tick...

Nissan S13 350SX: The Quest for HR

Nissan 350SX: 240SX VQ35HR swap
Last year at this time Casey Penn was gearing up to make the jump to the VQ35HR from the SR20DET engine in his S13 240SX. And now, the rubber has met the road and it seems as though Casey Penn has hit a HR with his swap. Moving from the 2.0 Silvia engine to the 3.5L V6 is quite a change that most would question. However after strolling over to Project X last week, I witness the end results of a SR20DET with just too much power and a hole in the side of the engine. Yes, the SR20DET has the ability to hold alot of power, but the benefits of going big has it's advantages.
